TikTok can send a flood of attention your way β but attention that can't reach you is wasted. A WhatsApp link in your bio turns a viewer's curiosity into a real conversation before they scroll away.
The catch: TikTok's bio link requirement
Unlike Instagram, TikTok doesn't give every account a clickable bio link. To add a website link to your TikTok bio, you generally need a Business account (free to switch to). Personal/Creator accounts historically needed a follower threshold, but converting to a Business account removes that barrier for the website field.
To switch:
- Open TikTok β Profile β the menu (three lines) β Settings and privacy.
- Tap Account β Switch to Business Account.
- Pick the category that fits you.
Business accounts also unlock analytics, which you'll want for measuring which videos drive chats.
Method 1: WhatsApp as your bio website link
Once you have the website field:
- Generate a link with our free WhatsApp link generator using your business number and a pre-filled greeting like "Hi! I saw you on TikTok."
- Copy the URL, e.g.
https://wa.me/972541234567?text=Hi!%20I%20saw%20you%20on%20TikTok. - In TikTok, tap Edit profile β Website β paste the link β Save.
- View your own profile and tap the link to confirm WhatsApp opens.
Method 2: Link-in-bio page (multiple destinations)
If you need more than one link β WhatsApp plus a shop, plus a booking page β use a link-in-bio tool:
- Linktree, Beacons, or a simple custom page.
- Add a prominent "Chat on WhatsApp" button that points to your
wa.melink. - Put the link-in-bio URL in your TikTok website field.
The tradeoff is one extra tap versus several destinations. For a single-purpose business, link straight to WhatsApp instead.
Method 3: Call it out in the caption and comments
The bio link is easy to miss. Reinforce it:
- Captions: end videos with "Chat with us β link in bio."
- Pinned comment: pin a comment on your best-performing videos saying how to reach you.
- On-screen text: a quick "DM us on WhatsApp π" overlay in the last 2 seconds.
TikTok's algorithm rewards watch-through, so keep the CTA short and late in the video.
Pre-filled message: what to write
The pre-filled message is your first impression. Keep it:
- Short β one sentence.
- From the viewer's perspective β "Hi! I saw your TikTok..." not "Thanks for contacting us."
- Specific to the source β makes replies and tracking easier.
Good examples:
- "Hi! Your TikTok sent me β can you share prices?"
- "Hey! I saw your TikTok and I'd like to book."
Track where chats come from
Add a UTM tag so TikTok chats are distinguishable from Instagram or Google:
https://wa.me/972541234567?text=Hi!%20from%20TikTok%20&utm_source=tiktok
The tag rides along in the message text, so you can see the source right inside your inbox. For a deeper system, see WhatsApp UTM tracking.
What NOT to do
- Don't post your raw number on screen. Viewers won't copy, save a contact, and open WhatsApp β you'll lose most of them.
- Don't rely on a shortener. A clean
wa.melink is trusted; shorteners add a warning step and can be region-blocked. - Don't skip the pre-filled message. "What do I say?" is a real reason people bounce.
After you set it up
Post a video that mentions you're now on WhatsApp, watch your analytics for a few days, and see whether chats-per-week climb. If TikTok becomes a top source, feature the CTA even more aggressively. Avoid the classic errors in 7 WhatsApp marketing mistakes.
