LinkedIn is a slow-response network. Your DMs get seen days later. If you're prospecting, recruiting, or selling, moving conversations to WhatsApp is a competitive advantage.
The four places to put a WhatsApp link on LinkedIn
1. Contact info
The most obvious spot:
- Your profile → Contact info → Edit contact info.
- Add website → paste your
wa.melink → label as "WhatsApp". - (LinkedIn allows up to 3 websites — WhatsApp is a legit one.)
Now when someone views your profile, they see a "WhatsApp" link they can tap.
2. About section
Add a call to action at the end of your About:
Prefer to chat quickly? Message me on WhatsApp: [wa.me link]
LinkedIn auto-links URLs. Keep the anchor short.
3. Featured section (visual)
Best for creators and consultants:
- Add a Featured item → Add a link → paste
wa.meURL. - Add a custom title and description: "Book a 15-min call on WhatsApp".
- Optionally add a QR code image with the link — visitors can scan straight from their laptop with their phone.
4. In-DM handoff
When a LinkedIn conversation starts feeling productive, invite it to WhatsApp:
Great to connect! For faster back-and-forth, feel free to WhatsApp me: [link]
Most people prefer WhatsApp over LinkedIn DMs. You'll close conversations 3x faster.
Message pre-fill: LinkedIn-specific
Use a message that acknowledges the source:
Hi! I saw your LinkedIn profile — I'd love to chat about [topic].
Different UTM per LinkedIn placement (contact info, About, Featured) so you can tell what's driving the chats:

Etiquette
- Don't spam LinkedIn connections with WhatsApp. Only share after they've engaged.
- Ask before switching: "Would you like to move this to WhatsApp?" respects preferences.
- Match their formality on the first WhatsApp message. LinkedIn is professional — start WhatsApp professional too.
